This time of year always ignites nostalgia for years passed, yesterday’s experiences, and those fleeting and dramatic moments captured only by memory, photographs, or in writing. Why does the smell of turkey and pine needles catapult me into an emotional journey backwards? I love to reminisce. I love to talk endlessly about my family’s year-in-review. I could stare into the photographed eyes of my younger self, my family, my ancestors, or my children and wonder for hours about a look, a smile, a gesture. Am I alone in these feelings? Probably not; however, I sometimes feel my love affair with all things heartfelt and emotional to be draining and time consuming. Doesn’t my emotional fiber understand I have a growing to-do list, and too many things to accomplish before breakfast? I guess not.

What brought me to these thoughts? Where am I going with this post? It all stems from this new iPhone application I have been using and loving called WOVEN THE APP. Do you know of this app? I didn’t either before attending the Springboard Conference a few months back. It was beautifully presented to me as a way to organize my photographs in one place, easily accessible, simply, and on my phone. I nearly hugged Brittney Topham, Account Coordinator, SHIFT COMMUNICATIONS when she and her colleagues introduced the app to me, and promoted its capabilities.  I downloaded right-there-and-then. Bam! They graciously and expertly answered my questions and allowed me the time to see how the application worked on my own phone with my own beloved photographs. In seconds, the application integrated and organized photographs taken on my phone, posted to Facebook, stored in Instagram, and from a whole bunch of other places. Seeing many of these forgotten photographs vividly brought me back into a moment. What a gift to be reminded of something, or someone. Photographs do that to me, and I know so many other people that can also be stopped in their tracks by a visual. I wasn’t looking for any specific photograph in that moment; however, there THEY were, a lot of them, waiting and teasing me. I couldn’t help but reminisce. “Oh, look at that one!” the screen emotionally prompted. Guess what, I did.  I looked and looked and looked. I love all the reminders of my days, past and present.

Bottom line: I LOVE WOVEN THE APP and I think you will, too. Download it. Check it out. See what you think, and guess what, if you want the app to do “other stuff” communicate with the Woven Team. Ask. Maybe, just maybe, your request will be granted. If you love your camera, let your photographs be organized simply enough to find them, to enjoy them, to share them with others.

Going into the 2012 holiday season, I most definitely will shoot hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of photographs (like many of you), and a whole bunch of them will be uploaded somewhere. I like knowing these photographs can and will be organized simply and be ready to show easily on my phone.  Thank you WOVEN THE APP!
